Kiana graduated from Georgia Gwinnett College (Lawrenceville, GA) in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and minor in Biology. Her undergraduate research focused on the synthesis of acrylamide-based hydrogels that functioned as nitrogen sorbents as an alternative technology for waste-water treatment. Her research interests span across polymer chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, and environmental chemistry. However, her scientific drive primarily comes from the potential to create something that positively impacts the world. She is particularly in materials systems that can help address resource shortages and overcome limitations with green energy production. Kiana’s hobbies outside of the lab include figure skating, traveling, trying new foods, and going to museums.
